Meeting 9/9/2001
Jim
Miller, who is the District IV director presented a program of the
elements of floral design for garden club members as recognized by
the garden club association. Jim is a floral judge with several years expertice.
Jim elucidated design principles as a acronym BaDCRoPS.
BALANCE - the design should be stable. It shouldn't fall over.
DOMINANCE - design needs a theme flowers or line, not container
CONTRAST - different elements to make the design interesting
RHYTRHM - catch the eye of the viewer - eyes should go thru the design
PROPORTION -
SCALE - the design and the vase should be similar in character.
On containers - consider collecting a bunch of different sizes & shapes. Something unusual helps.
Be creative, be imaginative.
